About Me

Zac Craven is a genre-bending singer-songwriter whose life experiences across the Western Hemisphere shape the heart of his music. Fluent in Spanish after years of missionary work throughout Chile, Peru, and Mexico, Craven blends cross-cultural perspective with Southern-born storytelling, delivering songs that feel both intimate and expansive. With hundreds of original compositions to his name and performances spanning North, Central, and South America, his work resonates with audiences drawn to authenticity, depth, and emotional clarity.

Born and raised in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Craven grew up with a deep love for both sports and the arts. Before fully pursuing music, he was a standout left-handed pitcher, earning a Mississippi High School State Championship during his senior year and securing a spot in the prestigious Mississippi High School Baseball All-Star Game. He continued pitching at the collegiate and professional levels—discipline, perseverance, and mental toughness that continue to inform his approach to songwriting and performance.

Craven’s academic background is as diverse as his travels. He holds an Associate of Arts from Jones County Junior College, a Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Studies from William Carey University, and a Graduate Certificate in Christian Apologetics from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His education, paired with extensive real-world global experience, fuels the lyrical depth, spiritual nuance, and thoughtful craftsmanship that define his music.

A natural storyteller and compelling live performer, Craven has shared stages and songs across borders and communities—from intimate acoustic rooms to dynamic, high-energy shows influenced in part by a formative summer spent with the Cody Nite Rodeo in Cody, Wyoming. His catalog reflects a lifetime of cultural immersion, personal transformation, and artistic exploration.

Craven has opened for established country artists Jeff Bates, Frank Foster, and notably caught the attention of Grammy-winning legend Lyle Lovett, who praised his music expressed interest in having him open future shows. In 2024, Craven was named a Mississippi Songwriter of the Year Finalist, further solidifying his place as a rising voice rooted in honesty, craft, and lived experience.
